My name is Maura Pilafas, but my friends call me Mo if we are already cool like that…

I am a senior at the University of Missouri-Columbia, originally from the suburbs of Chicago. I am majoring in Journalism with my emphasis being in Strategic Communication at the university’s renowned journalism school. Additionally, I am pursuing a minor in Business and a certificate in Digital Marketing through the Trulaske School of Business. I will be graduating May 2026.

I look to take my skills into a field where I can help organizations market themselves across all platforms, from Instagram feeds to billboards! I want to help display and better brand images of all kinds. I am a go-getter who knows and recognizes the importance of quality work, and what it means to get things from point A to point B. I am sure my drive, skills and commitment will assist you in your place of work/on your team!

I am currently looking for associate level jobs and/or summer internships in the Digital Marketing, Public Relations or Social Media Marketing and Communications realms as I am one who likes to take a creative perspective on things and wants to share that creativity and strategy with the rest of the world.

I am specifically searching in the Chicagoland area and New York City, but am VERY open to talk of relocation for any opportunities. I am a fast learner, problem-solver, and overall hard worker who respects the art of getting from Point A to Point B, no matter how big or small the task may be.

On a personal level, I have a weird addiction to soup mugs, am washed-up state champion high school volleyball player, and have hyper-extended thumbs. I enjoy thrifting at the Goodwill bins, writing my unprofessional opinions on my blog (@mpilafas), hanging out with my friends and fajitas from any mexican joint. Whenever prompted to share a fun fact, my go-to is often to share how was baptized in a public library.
